What types of transactions and matters do we handle?

We handle a variety of matters related to starting and operating a small business. For example, contracts, service and independent contractor agreements, non-disclosure agreements, leases, privacy policies, terms of service, buy-sale agreements, and certain employment matters. We also assist clients with copyright and trademark registration and maintenance. Furthermore, we offer legal services related to administrative law matters – hearing boards, disciplinary boards, and state or federal appeal boards.

How do we bill for legal services?

Depending on your matter, we may bill by flat fee or an hourly rate. Fees are determined by a number of factors as set out in E.R. 1.5, including time required and complexity of the issues. Typically, we will require advanced fees before we begin work on your matter. Advanced fees are funds that a client pays to an attorney up front, before legal services are performed, to cover the cost of future work. These fees are sometimes called a "retainer" but technically, an advanced fee is unearned when paid and is billed against as work is done.

We strive to have no surprises when it comes to cost. Please reach out to us immediately if you ever have a question about fees or charges on your bill. We will attempt to address your concerns and resolve the matter informally. In addition, the Arizona and Colorado State Bar Associations provide fee arbitration programs. Do we offer free initial consultations?

First, you must complete the contact form. Then, we will review and make an initial determination as to whether we may be able to handle your matter. If so, we may offer a 15-minute meet and greet call free of charge to briefly determine if we can help. If we are a match, then we will schedule a paid in-depth strategy session (consultation) or proceed directly with engagement. We do not review any documents nor do we provide any legal advice unless and until we have established an attorney-client relationship with a formal written fee agreement.

How should I prepare for a screening call?

Gather case-related documents: Bring any contracts, letters, court documents, emails, or other paperwork related to your legal issue.
Chronology: Prepare a clear timeline or summary of the events that led to your situation.
Be ready to address basic background questions. For example, have the full names of all involved parties.
Notes: Write down specific questions or concerns related to the matter.
Define your goals and expectations: Clarify if you are seeking advice only, full representation, or assistance with specific tasks.

How will we communicate during my case?

We provide you with regular and informative updates with each step of your matter. We communicate about developments – big or small –, fees, questions, and results. We strive to respond to client inquiries within 1-2 business days, except for holiday or other times when we are away.
